The Sweeter Song

"And so what we have learned
Applys to our lives today
'Cause God has a lot to say
In His book

" You see we know that
God's word is for everyone
So now that our song is done
We'll take a look."
~ "The What Have We Learned Song" Veggie Tales

*sheepish smile*... sorry that song just came to mind as I was contemplating the content of this post and what I wanted to say and such. Daddy, fill my heart with your love as I post this. (No, this isn't a bad post..:).. I'm just of the mind to let my intermittent prayers be here as well.) hmm.... the sweeter song.... This is all swirling around in my heart and I must find a string end to start with...
I've been struggling a lot lately with succombing to attention from guys (actually a particular guy) at school. And it's scared and startled me the strength with which the enemy has been able to use my weakness to direct my thoughts and give my flesh strength over my heart. And part of the struggle has also been my infatuation with The Phantom of the Opera. (Now don't get aggrivated with me, my dears... I'm by no means down on TPO.. and it gets better ;).) I've loved both the major love songs (and still do), but they just had a tendancy to make me daydream and think more about what isn't really yet mine to focus on. And in the midst of the wretched struggle (for once Satan had me weak over the guy at school he got me questioning all my guy-friend relationships) I picked up When God Writes Your Love Story by Eric and Leslie Ludy. I'll admit. I've been quite suspicious and unwilling to read it since I got it for Chirstmas, but the struggle in my heart grew intense and I got desperate. (lol.. ah my that sounds funny writing it but that's the way I felt with all seriousness). And though I haven't finished it, it's very good. I'd like to share with you the story they tell of the sweeter song...
Captain Ulysses cut a powerful figure as he stood on the deck of his great ship. The afternoon sun shimmered off the water as he strode about the ship with grace and diginity....
"Captain!"
The noble leader quickly turned to find a worried seaman, eyes filled with trepidation and lips rattling [sic] with anxiety...The drama built as the petrified first
mate raised a quivering finger due north and stuttered, "The Sirens,
sir!"...
"Those devilsh mermaids won't get us!" he [Ulysses] announced to his fearful crew.... "I want every sailor to take some of this beeswax and put it in your ears so you can hear nothing. And tie me to the mast!" ....
The crew was oblivious -- all except Ulysses who, while tied to the mast, had no wax to stop the music. Ulysses' blood ran hot with passion. "Untie me!" he screamed in anguish... But the crewmen could not hear and had been comanded not to read his lips. The song grew louder and lovelier, and Ulysses groaned with sheer physical desire..... Ulysses threatened the plank, Cyclops feedings, and various other forms of torture [if he were not unbound] as the ship passed by the rocky coastline, and then finally moved beyond the reach of their song. An exhaused Ulysses...was finally untied and fell limp to the deck. "Why?" he moaned with his remaining strength. "Why does it seem that the things I desire most in this life lead to my
destruction?"....
Not far behind the ship of Ulysses came another great ship. These sailors also realized the dangers of the Sirens and the rock upon which they sat.
"Captain Orpheus," the first mate enthusiastically declared, "the sweet song of the Sirens lies just ahead!"
With that announcement, the crew cheered and the great Orpheus smiled. All around the ship, crewmen's voices rang with excitement. The part of the voyage that they longed for was soon at hand. In fact, there some on the ship who had come along just to hear the music. With a knowing smile, the dauntless captian received a beautifully adorned case from the cabin boy. The acclaimed Orpheus carefully removed the priceless instrument as the crewmen stood near bywith bated breath....
All eyes were transfixed upon their hero. Captain Orpheus took his stance and began to masterfully play the most perfect music the men's ears had ever heard. Each man became lost int the reverie of the song. All too soon the Siren coastline was out of sight and the Master musician concluded the song that he himself had composed. Not a single man aboard his ship was tempted by the Siren's melody. In fact, no one even noticed it. Though the mermaid's music was alluring and sweet, the superb Orpheus played for his crew...a sweeter song.

A sweeter song... That's what our heavenly Father want's to sing to us. That is the strange yet beautiful unknown melody we find sometimes in our hearts when we are in God's perfect will for our lives. And listening to Phantom of the Opera it struck me. There is the song the world sings that is like that of the Sirens. The love song the Phantom sings to Christine when he takes her to his "liar". It is extremely beautiful and enthralling but dark. And then there's the love song that her childhood beau sings to her, calling her to the light, and that is the more powerful song that keeps her from the dark and the solitude. It is too beautiful for words, is it not? :)... Heavenly Father, sing to us... help us to hear Your love song to us. Help us to hear the sweeter song. Let the song and Your love so fill our hearts that we do not even see or hear the distraction the world and the enemy of our hearts throws at us. May our eyes be ever turned towards You as you guide us. Please let those who read this grasp the truth that lies here. And thank you, dearest Father, for giving us the desires of our heart at the proper times. I love you. We love you. Amen.

Jabberwocky

Twas brillig and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe
All mimsy were borogoves
And the mome raths out grabe

Beware the Jabberwock my son
The jaws that bite the claws that snatch
Beware the Jubjub bird and shun
The frimuous Bandersnatch

Took he his vorpal sword in hand
Long time the manxome foe he sought
So rested he, by the Tum-tum tree
And stood awhile in thought

And as in uffish thought he stood
The Jabberwock with eyes a flame
Came whiffling through the tugly wood
And burbled as it came.

One! Two! One! Two! and through and through!
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack
He left it dead and with its head
He went gallumphing back

Hath thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms my beamish boy
Oh frabjous day! Callooh Callay!
He chortled in his joy.

Twas brillig and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe
All mimsy were the borogoves
And the mome raths outgrabe.

What a Year :)

What a year already :). Hm.. how shall I start?
Well I went to a evening dress New Year's Party at Domi's house... danced my first slow dance... ate my first scallops wrapped in bacon....made up my own word that I wanted to be a word for Scrabble and it actually turned out to be a real word.. it's just that it's French and not English ("devant").. but who cares? *angelic smile* it's still a word! *big grin* *happy sigh*... confronted a friend about lack of behavior as such (watch him of all times read my blog now %p).. and it went quite well.. I consider it a success...I feel totally unprepared for the year ahead and I'm not sure why. Perhaps it's because I didn't spend its early hours in my usual quiet meditation of it. I feel uncertain of year to come. The mental picture I have of beginning this new year is that of a little girl holding tightly to my heavenly Daddy's hand and arm... half in uncertainty half in expectation of what's to come. "The Theme from Mahogany" is still my favorite Diana Ross & the Supremes song. I am going to have time to read what I want to read, draw and take pictures, ride my horse... be a free spirit I hope... dance in the rain and the sunshine too.... hmm... I'm just a jumble of thoughts and phrases right now. And there's my Rebecca so I'll quit blogging now :).. much love all! G'night!
